Cello song: my ritual retreat. Deep and warm— flooding the air, washing distraction away. Rich and resonant— vibrations soften the edges of my day, coaxing creativity into the open. Low and inviting— my response, at this point, Pavlovian. The cello, my signal: I sink into writing.

What a beautiful poem. I love poetry because you never know what to expect. My mind goes one place while reading where yours took you. It’s almost like a form of time travel when they both collide.
Thanks for sharing.

Mmmm, I listened to a familiar cello melody once I got partway through this, in my mind anyway. You know the one, dada dee dadada dada dee dadada. I’m sure you’ve figured it out.
Cello sounds are wonderful to sink into writing with.

I love the cello. How you – in so few words – convey the warm, mellow sound of it, and its invitation: unwind, immerse, feel the vibrating chords of life.

Wow—that’s at least five words in your comment that I’m wishing we’re in my poem! 🙂
