Fly Again

Today
someone offered
me permission
to say no,
and it was
exactly
what I needed
to hear.

Doors
and windows
opened—

Sunshine
warmed
my face—

Wind
rushed to clear
the cramped and cluttered
spaces—

Tears
watered
new seeds
ready to grow.

I had been
unable
to untether
myself,

but now I can breathe

and fly again.

Favorite lines- ‘gave me permission to say no’ and ‘unable to untether myself.’ This is an intriguing poem. On one hand, it is clear that saying no can free you. But you have the added layers of you not being able to do it until someone gave you permission. It makes me curious.
I love the images of the wind and the tears clearing away…
And PS Amy, thank you for the inspirational quotes you are posting with each day’s challenge this week. I missed them and enjoy yours 🙂
